About

Image of the celebrant

Trevar (he/him) is an Authorised Wedding Celebrant. But that’s not all! He has the skills and experience to officiate ceremonies including:

  • baby namings
  • transition ceremonies
  • legal marriages
  • memorial services and
  • other rites of passage.

Family

Trevar is a father of three splendidly weird offspring, and husband to one wicked drag queen. Descended from four generations of Gippslanders and countless generations of Scots, Trevar was born and raised in Sydney. After that, he spent two decades living in the rather more humane environs of Canberra. Now he finds himself finally liberated from urbanity, and ensconced among the sublime hills of South Gippsland.

Trevar has worked in education, theatre and the community sector most of his adult life. He relishes the opportunity to celebrate and mark life’s transitions with others. He knows the joy of welcoming new members into families. Trans journeys are especially important to him. He loves to celebrate with lovers as they make a lifelong commitment to each other. And he is always ready to stand with families as they begin the grieving process.

He is a playwright and has written over forty feature length and short plays for the stage. Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Hollywood and London have all hosted performances of his work. His experience running theatrical productions and festivals gives him a valuable perspective on ceremony.

A Celebrant for the LGBTIQA+ Community

Trevar is an out-and-proud member of the rainbow community. As a queer wedding celebrant, he is very enthusiastic about queer Australians taking advantage of the rights they’ve won, and supporting trans, non-binary and polyamorous Australians to continue the fight for equality. He is eager to celebrate the journeys of trans folk and to support and also to celebrate the commitments of the polyamorous.

The Celebrant for You

All this, along with his Scottish-Australian heritage, gives Trevar a strong sense of ceremony, just the right amount of irreverence and a fabulous sense of humour that will strike the right balance between solemnity and joy on your special day.
