A Guide to Celebrant Costs

Many people get frustrated trying to find out how much a celebrant will cost for their event. I try to take the pain out of planning by giving you as much information up-front as I can.

I provide the following as indicative pricing. For relatively standard services, such as basic wedding ceremonies or baby namings, these fees won’t change much. Get in touch for details around additional legal needs, public holidays, punctuality and the like.

All ceremony pricing is split into two fees:

  • The Booking Fee secures your date, ensuring no other ceremonies can be booked for that time. Your booking is not secure until it is paid. It is not refundable if you change your mind, and there are limits on changing the date. If the celebrant cancels, it is fully refundable.
  • The Ceremony Fee is due one week prior to the ceremony, and is not refundable. If you pay it before it is due, it is fully refundable until due.

Gift Ceremonies

A ceremony is a fantastic gift to present in certain circumstances… the one thing to consider is that a celebrant is a very personal choice. Just because you think I’m the bee’s knees doesn’t mean the person/people you’re buying for think the same.

If you’re considering giving a ceremony as a gift, maybe discuss it with the recipient/s first. When you offer to cover the costs, allow them to choose the celebrant. And remember that paying for a ceremony doesn’t mean your preferences trump those of the recipient/s.

If you would like a gift certificate, I am able to help. Just get in touch (details below) to discuss the circumstances.

Code of Practice

As an Authorised Celebrant, I am bound by the Marriage Celebrants’ Code of Practice. I am also committed to the Code of Practice of the Funeral Celebrants Association of Australia. I endeavour to go beyond these codes in meeting my clients’ expectations for their ceremony. If I fail, I hope you will let me know. If I am unable to rectify the situation for you, there are external organisations that can help.
